Hi, welcome to healthcare magic
Ciplox is an antibiotic drop used to treat infections and would not treat excess wax accumulation.
Excess wax accumulation is a common problem and more likely to occur when cotton tips are used in an attempt to remove wax, the wax ends up pushed against the ear drum. In addition some persons produce more wax than others, it can also occur with the use of hearing
aids which also impact the wax and push it towards the ear drum.
In general wax should be removed by wrapping a wet washcloth around the finger and cleaning the outer ear.
For impacted wax the possible treatments would be:(1) the use a few drops of slightly warm olive oil or baby oil which softens the wax which moves towards the outer ear where is can be removed
(2)over the counter wax softening agents can also be used
(3) if the above do not work , you may need to see a doctor who either give a prescription for another drop or clean out the ear. The ear can be cleaned by syringing it (using water to clean it) or the use of a curette.
I hope this information is helpful to you and that your husband soon feels better.
