Dear Dr i am Diagnosed Asteoporosis patient as i am taking tegratol from 20 years
and Dr suggested me DEXA scan test
Now pls let me know the difference between MRI AND DEXA SCAN
and suggest me which is better

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

MRI scan is magnetic resonance imaging and provides structural details of the human body using magnetic field and radio frequency.
DEXA is dual energy X ray absorptiometry and gives the bone density by using low intensity X rays. Both have their own utilities. For osteoporosis, DEXA is more important however MRI will show any small fracture. Please get both done and if given a choice, DEXA is more helpful for you.
