What Are The Side Effect Of Co-cyprindiol And Ecoli On Fetus?
hi i am taking the contraceptive pill co-cyprindiol but am just getting over ecoli 0157 (been on and off poorly with this for a few weeks) i had unprotected sex 2 weeks ago, could i be pregnant and if so could the ecoli or the pill have any effects on the fetus? Also if i am pregnant and on my monthly break with my pill could i still have a period? i am 25 years old, good health in general.
It is unlikely that the medication will have a negative effect on your fetus. Do keep your OBGYN in the loop on this. Ecoli itself will not cause any ill effects on the fetus. The doctor should make sure that you are taking an antibiotic that doesn't affect your baby. Contraceptives aren't 100%, it is possible that you got pregnant. If you are pregnant, you will not have a period.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pranav Balakrishnan, General & Family Physician
