What Causes Back Pain With Flare Ups In Lower Pelvis Area?

I have had major back pain and flare ups in my lower pelvis area. MRI's showed that I have a hyperintense T1 focus. I've had a giant cell tumor removed aproximately 15 years ago. I still have pain. Is this normal? My primary doctor has referred me to a specialist and claims to only have limited options of how to keep me out on disability until the specialist can do more tests. Should the primary physician still be involved with my disabilility leave or should I move forward with my specialist now?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
You need to nove forward to a specialist for proper diagnosis. The hyperintense signal on T1 needs to be investigated. A bone scan is needed.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
