What Causes Chronic Tenderness And Bruise At The Spot Of Injury?

Hi, I sprained my ankle last week due to a fall and had it xrayed. I unfortunately thought nothing of the tenderness to my knee at the time and didn t mention it to the doctor. The tenderness has not improved at all. In fact a small area to the right of my left knee cap is extremely sore to touch or if I lean it against something. Could this be something more serious than a simple bruise as I first thought it was? Many thanks

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
It could be a contusion or sprain.
As of now you can use analgesics/anti inflammatory combination like aceclofenac/seratiopeptdase for symptomatic relief.
You can apply icepacks for faster recovery.
If symptoms persists you can consult an orthopaedician and get evaluated.
Wishing all the best.
Thanks
