What Causes Constant Palpitation All Through The Day?
Hi Today I've had constant palpitations,my heart rate settles to normal then few seconds later it races. This has been happening since I woke this morning,is this normal,I've had the odd occasion during the day of a couple of times, but never constant and all day? Thanks
Hi, thanks for posting your concern in the HCM. Palpitation warrants further evaluation. Palpitation can occur due to various reasons. Anxiety, depression, cardiac arrhythmia, vulvular incompetence, sympathetic hyperactivity, hyperdynamic circulation(anemia, thyrotoxicosis etc.), some medications etc. may cause this problem. You should immediately consult a cardiologist. An ECG and a 24 hr holter monitoring will be needed to rule out any cardiac arrhythmia. In the absence of any cardiac problem, a complete blood count, fasting TSH may be needed to rule out anemia and thyroid disorder. Further tests, may also be needed to rule out all the causes of palpitation. For any further query, please write back to us. Regards. Dr. Kaushik
