General Surgeon 's  Response
HI.
Yes, 14000 is a very high count indicating an active infection which has to be well treated with broad spectrum antibiotics and supportive medicines.
Is there a problem in X-ray chest , something like infection / pneumonia?

The infection like this can cause what you have got.
Take bed rest, steam inhalations , treatment strictly as advised by your Doctor.
Multivitamin supplements, / keep away from any fumes/ smoke/ scents which can irritate the respiratory system.

Wish you an early and uneventful recovery.
