What Causes Difficulty In Swallowing After Choking Over The Food?

i chocked on a peice of fried shrimp and had to have the himelic manuever done a little over a week ago.and ever since it hurts real bad to swallow anything went to the dr 2 days after it happened.he did a ct scan and a chest x ray and said everything looked allright.

As per your symptoms you seem to have "ODYNOPHAGIA"also called painful swallowing.You had a perfect and updated follow up in the form Hemelichs manuever and a CT scan.

As your CT scan was reported normal,you can be rest assured,the pain which your currently experiencing is only as result of a small mucosal tear caused by sharp edges of shrimp. Tab Pantop 40 mg for 2 weeks can help to recover by healing of tear.

Consult a Gastroenterologist in case of further need.
