What Causes Frequent Sickness, Fever, Runny Nose, Cough In A Child?
Hi my daughter is 2 1/2 years old. She has had a fever off and on since Thursday afternoon. She has also been complaining her mouth hurts eats very little if any hurts to drink, isn t sleeping enough. I took her to her pediatrician and they said common virus, no strep. She also has been getting sick at least 3-4 a month with fever, runny nose, coughing, she is the only one sick at home. Also her cheeks are swollen inside.
Hello. Thank you for your question. I'm sorry your daughter is not well. Upper respiratory infections can occur in the pediatric age range between 6-12 times per year. When it occurs, it is completely appropriate to have your daughter seen by the pediatrician. if the diagnosis made is viral, however, there is not much to do other than fluids and rest. I understand, it's very frustrating. However, this is the most common diagnosis in pediatrics.
