What Causes High Fever And A Paining Spot On His Left Side Of Neck?

My son is 5 years old, he has had a high fever with chills for 3 days, he also has a swallow spot on his left side of his neck that is visible and he says hurts to the touch. We went to an urgent care doctor who said there is no ear infection and they did a strep throat test that came back negative. The doctor did give us an antibiotic, which we just started earlier today. Prior to him getting sick we traveled on a plane and the day the fever hit he was exposed to the florida sun all day, which was three days ago.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi. This looks like a tender lymph node. I think it will respond to the antibiotic course of 5 to 7 days.
