Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My middle finger is painful at the joint. Last night I awoke and could not straighten my finger. I was only able to unbend it by manually manipulating it with my other hand. It remains sore. No trauma. The pain started a few days ago. I am a 62 yr. old female. Only health issue is medullary sponge kidney (with 1 recent bout of kidney stones) and high cardio CRP of 7.2.

Rest the finger joints so that they can heal, but use mild stretching exercises to keep them limber and maintain motion. Stretch the joints gently, not forcefully, twice a day. Stretch just to the point of discomfort, but not enough to cause pain. Anti-inflammatory medication can help. Any prescribed medication for inflammation should be taken only as directed.
