What Causes Nausea, Headache, Difficulty Talking, Voice Sounding Very Hoarse?

Hello, My symptoms are nausea, a headache and difficulty talking. I do not have any difficulty swallowing, and there are no lumps on my throat. My voice sounds very hoarse. I have been feeling like this for 4 days. Also, I have been taking cough drops and drinking plenty of water and tea, but the symptoms are still here. When I wake up in the morning I feel and sound fine, but as the day goes on, it becomes difficult to speak. My throat is not sore and I do not have a runny nose. Does anyone know what I might have, or how I can fix this? Thank you for your time.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you are having symptoms of nausea, headache, difficulty talking, voice sounding very hoarse which are pointing towards upper respiratory tract infection , which can be caused by bacterial or viral infection. I t could be due to laryngitis which leads to inflammation of vocal cards. Need not to worry. For now continue doing gargles and drink one spoon of honey mix with glass of lukewarm water. You should take steam inhalation along with vaporizers. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may order test like viral culture test , throat swab test and blood test to confirm the diagnosis and rule out causes. you should go for get laryngoscopy as well. Doctor may prescribe antibacterial amoxicillin or anti viral acyclovir depending upon the diagnosis along with decongestants. Avoid hot, sharp , spicy food.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
