Hello,

Presently your husband is experiencing penis pain during intercourse. You are advised to avoid the use of latex condoms, spermicides, or sex toys as they may cause soreness or irritation on or around the penis and genital area causing pain and discomfort to the partner.

Avoid rough or forceful thrusting during penetrative sex, as this can cause excessive friction, irritation and pain. Many sex lubrication products are available on the market, you can use some of them for better sex. The swelling and inflammation of the prostate may cause a person to experience pain or discomfort in the penis, particularly after ejaculation.

Get your husband get clinically examined by a Urologist to rule out underlying medical conditions like prostatitis, UTI, etc. He will be accordingly treated with analgesics and antibiotics in case of medical condition detected. Some women may also experience mild discomfort or cramping after Copper T insertion. However, this typically subsides within a few days. Take acetaminophen, one stat when required.

Since your husband is having pain, it is important for you to attend follow-up appointments with your healthcare provider to monitor for any potential complications like infection or expulsion of Copper T that may be causing you pain.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
