What Causes Pain In My Coccyx With Numbness And Swelling Of Legs

I have been having pain in my tailbone area for approximately a year and a half. It's gotten worse and now I have pain all the way up my spine. Sitting is misserable. I've had some numbness and swelling in my legs and feet. I can't tell if this is all from the tailbone problem or swelling in my lower back and spine. I went to the doctor last week and had xrays. Am going back tomorrow to see what the xrays showed. I'm not sure my doctor understands my tailbone pain and don't think that area was xrayed. Any ideas?
