What Causes Rapid Heart Beats, Sweating, Weakness, Dizziness And Diarrhea?

Last night I had a very scary experience. I was laying bed and felt my heart rate increase to the point of feeling like it would pound through my chest. I began sweating profusely and felt extremely weak. I made my way to the bathroom and had diarrhea. I layed on bathroom floor for about 20-30 minutes. I did not pass out but felt like I would any minute. Symptoms subsided and I went back to bed and slept fine.
I am 39 years old with hypothyroidism (being treated). I had some caffeine last evening but actually a little less than I normally do. I feel fine this morning.

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hi,

The episode you had looked more like a panic attack.
But in such cases we should always rule out any arrhythmia causing above symptoms.
I'll advise you to get an ECG and a 24hr Holter monitoring done to rule out any arrhythmia.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sameer Maheshwari, Cardiologist
