What Causes Redness, swelling And Pain At The Finger Tipsk
10 y/o Daughter has red, painful, swollen finger tips with large raised red areas (not through the jt.) No other symptoms. Neg for strep, fever managed with ibuprofen. MD appt later today...any ideas? My guess would be severe allergic reaction to something(no idea what)
Hello and welcome to HCM, The symptoms of red, painful and swollen finger tips could be due to connective tissue disorder called Raynaud's phenomenon. This phenomenon is caused after exposure to cold environment like cold water. However, these symptoms could be due to allergy but a history to exposure to an allergen required. Raynaud's phenomenon is diagnosed by certain tests. It is an autoimmune connective tissue disease diagnosed by presence of autoantibodies against body's own antigens. It is managed by steroids.
