What Causes Severe Pain In The Chin?

I have been having a bruised like pain in my chin (only on one side) for going on 3 weeks now. Have a dermatologist appointment January 9th. There is no visible signs of a bruise. I was thinking a cystic acne pimple, but nothing is showing. What could it be?
