What Causes Sudden Bilateral Swelling Of The Parotid Salivary Glands?
HI, yesterday I had a sudden occurence of bilateral swelling of the parotid salivary glands. They are sore but not tender. I have had mumps as a child and possibly again about when 21 when glands really swelled up. I have been on a low carb diet for about 3 weeks and do not consume much alcohol. The possible trigger was eating a chewy sweet that the kids had left behind. Any ideas please for treatment? Thanks
It sounds like an inflammation of the Parotid glands. You should take some anti inflammatory medicines like Tab Combiflam or Ibuprofen. Warm compresses will also make you feel better. If it doesnt go down in a week to ten days you should have it evaluated by a Surgeon or you can contact us. Take care. Dr Rishi.
