Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have severe tailbone pain and have had it for about 3 weeks now. I cannot sit for more than 10-20 minutes and it is very difficult to get up after sitting. I have had bright red blood on the toilet paper after stooling for 4-5 days now and my bowel habits have changed. I have had diarrhea multiple times a day, when normally I only go every other day. Very concerned about colon cancer, please advise!

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Mukesh Chugh's Response
Hi Thanks for writing your query Based on your description this injury is called coccygodynia. My advice for you would be- 1. Sitz’s bath- sit in the tub filled with lukewarm water for 10-15 minutes two times daily. 2. Avoid sitting on hard surface and try to sit on one buttock. Avoid jerky rides and take rest. 3. Medication wise you may take Ibuprofen for few days. As far as fresh blood in stools along with change in bowel habbit are concerned it needs further investigation by colonscopy. Take care and wish you good health. Regards Dr.chugh Orthopaedic surgeon http://bit.ly/drmchugh
