Scanty menses can occur after long term use of oral contraceptives. But since you have used for a short term, it is better to rule out certain causes of scanty menses such as anovulation, thyroid deficiency, and problem with hormones such as prolactin, insulin and androgen. Hence you need some blood test: levels of hormones like FSH, LH, estrogen, progesterone, thyroid hormone, prolactin and androgen. In addition you also need a ultrasonogram of abdomen. Tests like D & C and MRI scan are sometimes needed. Treatment is as per cause of the scanty periods. Hence it is essential that you have to consult a gynaecologist.
