General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
As you mentioned that previously you were a patient of gout , so at this time according to your query you may have gout once again , so get in blood examination for uric acid level .
When such type of cases visit in my clinic I advise them to take allopurinol initially but , if they don't respond I advise them to take FABUXOSTAT 40 mg .
This drug rapidly reduces serum urate concentrations in patient s with untreatable gout.
2nd reason of your index finger swelling may be onset of rheumatoid arthritis , so get in blood examination for rheumatic factor for confirmation of rheumatoid arthritis .
3rd reason of this swelling may be osteoarthritis , however OA usually effects larger joints as knee ,but in few cases smaller joints may involve.
So in my opinion first of all consult an orthopedic surgeon and get his opinion.
Good luck.
