What Causes To Pass Blood In Bowel Movement For A Child?
hi , my 7 almost 8 year old daughter as always had problems with her bowels . lately I have seen blood in her bowel movement , she has had a fever for three days and dr. says he don t know why . she aways has a bad stomach and even has to be taked out of school . I give her lax-a-day to help her because sometimes she finds it hard to go . she isn t eating so much either lately .

I can understand your concern.
There could be several causes for blood in the stool. One of the causes is infection. If infection is identified as the cause your doctor will prescribe antibiotics for the same. Constipation can also be a cause of blood in the stool.
Constipation in children occurs if they are low fibre diet and junk foods.
Give your child diet rich in fruits and vegetables.
Give her lot of water to drink.
Ask your kid to play a lot running around and do not allow him to sit infront of the computer or television.
Continue to ask further queries as required.

1. Low consumption of fiber
2. Decreased intake of water
Bleeding is likely to be due to hard stools and fissure in anus.
I would suggest the following which will be helpful
1. Hot seitz bath twice a day
2. Ensure good intake of water
3. High fiber diet
4. Lactulose syrup which will soften the stools will be helpful
