What Causes Visible Dark Blue Veins And Spot On It?
i have somewhat fair skin, and some of the veins on my lower left leg you can see. one of them has a dark blue, circular spot in the middle of the vein, and it is kind of hard. Could this be a blood clot? I'm very active, but I still worry about DVT since I've heard about it.
Hi. It could be superficial thrombophlebitis a clot in the superficial veins that are visible specially in fair skinned people. DVT affects the deep veins running in your muscles and are not visible. They will lead to calf or thigh swelling. Superficial thrombophlebitis will regress with time you need not worry about. If its painful then apply warm compresses over it and if severe you can take pain medicines. Take care. Dr Rishi, New Delhi, India.
