What Could Be The Dark Spot Left By A Bump In The Pubis?

I had a small, dark bump (about the size of the cotton end of a Q-tip) right above my mons pubis. The bump went down, but now the skin where the bump was is still very dark. I'm not completely sure what the bump was, but could it have been caused by an ingrown hair? Also, will the discoloration go away?
