What Could Be The Side Effect Of Omnacortil On 3.4 Yr Old Child For Allergic Asthma And How Frequently Can It Be Used ?
My child is 3.4 yrs and having allergic asthma .. we have been prescribed Omnacortil and Nebulisation with Beudecort and levolin 1.25 i want to know what are the side effects of omnacortil.. how frequently it can be used ..
Hi Sunaina,
Thanks for writing in.
Omnacortil is a steroid and can cause growth retardation, thinning of bones, cataract, glaucoma, infections, stretch marks and round face.
This is only used for short term management of acute asthma attacks and long term management in very severe cases.
So if you child has very severe asthma, then we can use this drug; or your child recently had a very severe attack, then it can be used for some time.
Over the long term, please speak with your physician about steroid inhalers which would provide your child with the benefits of steroids without their adverse effects.
Hope this helps.
