What Could Black Stool After Undergoing Colonoscopy And Gastroscopy Indicate?
I had a colonscopy and an gastroscope on Monday. My Dr. said my colon was not cleared out as much as it should have been. I used 3 laxatives and spent all day in the washroom having bowel movememts. He said my stomach was alright and the cancer he cut out a year ago has not reappeared anywhere he could see. At the hospital I soiled the pad wit black feces before leaving. I visited the washroom and expelled gas and black feces came out. The next day there was still feces coming out of me. Is this common?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Read your history well and understood your concerns. The cause of the black stools/feces indicate that there is an active bleeding in the GI tracts. Most probably in your case must have been due to trauma to the mucosa or due to biopsy still bleeding and so on. I would advise you the following: Start a PPI like Omeprazole. Control of bleeding with medication is possible. Watch for review Endoscopies if required. Consult the Doctor who conducted the scopies for further evaluation and management.
