What Could It Be If I Have Pain In Belly Button When Bending Over?

I have belly button pain and have had this a few times over the last 3 years. Pain occurs when I bend over etc. read a little of what it could be. Started today and normally last a couple do days. I have been well and just came on around 12 today. Any pain relief for this uncomfortable feeling. I am thinking what I did last night. Didn t over eat only had 1 spicy sausage? Has this triggered it? Did see a gp once and had no answer.

Hi, welcome to our site. I am Dr Saumya Mittal.

Read your query. That is a very significant question and i appreciate your problem. I will try my best to answer your query.

I need more information. Since this is not interactive, like the Premium Questions, I am going to add some information regarding the commonest possible causes of umbilical pain.

There are a couple of possibilities that need to be considered for the pain in the umbilical region.

One of the most common causes is herniation. You see what happen is that there is a protrusion of some part of the intestine from the muscle. This causes a pain in the stomach where it tries to come out of the muscle layer. Sometimes this does not protrude out of the skin. So you may need an MRI or USG of the abdomen to see it.

Another possibility is the chronic infection and bowel problem, a condition known as IBS. The pain in the abdomen is associated with either constipation or diarrhea. Taking a high fibre diet and plenty of fluids should help you with this condition.

This may also be an infrequent site of Acid peptic disease(or long standing acidity in normal english). In this case, you may have nausea or vomitting associated with the discomfort- though not always. And the pain is relieved by food (If the problem is in stomach), or increased by food (if the problem is in duodenum). You may need antacids for this.

These are not exhaustive by far. You will need to match the information with the problems you have.

I hope this helps you. Inform the reports mentioned above so i can be of help further. Best of luck.

I have given you the answer to the maximum considering the information provided. The results of the tests could further enhance my answer to you.

Please do understand that some details could be extracted from a detailed history and examination.

Looking forward to your return query with the details asked so that I can help you further. Please feel free to ask another query. Would be glad to help you.
