There are numerous possible causes for the pain in your upper abdomen, and it sounds like you are getting the appropriate workup to discover the source of the problem. If you had a total hysterectomy, it would be extremely unusual for their to be any gynecologic cause, other than scar tissue. However, scar tissue would be more, likely a cause of lower abdominal pain and not upper. The easiest way to understand this would be to think about the organs that are in the upper abdomen. These include the liver, gall bladder, pancreas, stomach, duodenum, and parts of the colon. You colon is being checked out in the colonoscopy, so that is good and might provide some answers. You liver and gall bladder are usually checked with blood tests, and sometimes an ultrasound and possibly a CT scan. You may want to discuss getting those tests with your doctor if they haven't already been done. Your stomach and the duodenum can be checked by endoscopy, which is similar to a colonoscopy, but it checks the upper part of the bowel and stomach instead of the lower parts. You may want to discuss with the gastric specialist to see if he/she thinks that this might be helpful. I wish you the best of luck!
