What Does C-reactive Protein In Blood Test Mean? Have Osteoarthritis, High Cholestrol, Heart Problems, Chemo Done For Breast Cancer
I just had a blood test and it came back with my C-reactive protein of .39 based on their formula that normal is .00 - .29. what does this mean. I have osteoarthritis and just finished a year of chemo for breast cancer. My cholesterol hasn t been checked for 2 years because I can t take statins. (causes severe cramping.) so I am sure it is high. Also overweight because of too many steroids during treatments. (I guess that is my excuse for now) Also heart problems run in my family and I am 76 years old; also have swelling in legs - more in left than right - wear compression hose all the time. any suggestions as to what this all means? C reactive protein is increased in certain cases of autoimmune diseases, acute infections and other conditions. It is not a whole and sole marker of any disease. It might be due to osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, low grade infections, but most commonly it might be due to heart disease also, it may not lead the treatment plan, hou might need further investigation and treatment
Thanks
