What Does 'TB And Dengue Fever Have Come Back As Equivocal" Mean After A Blood Test?
My daughter (age 5) recently tested positive for Salmonella Paratyphi through a stool test (blood culture was negative) and was trated with amoxicillin. The fever went away within couple days of the antibiotics. Now a blood test result (from a previous sample when she was sick), shows that TB and dengue fever have come back as equivocal. What does this mean?. The doctor has recommended a skin test for TB after six months and no further testing for dengue. She said equivocal does not mean positive but then it is not negative either. Does that result mean that she had all three some days ago?
Blood test mainly bases upon antibodies level in body. In any infection level of particular antibodies increased. In this case may be your child had both dengue and T.B which lead to production of particular antibodies in body which detected by test. currently she is positive due to typhi infection which means typhoid bacteria is in her body
Thanks
