I have had 2 xrays & 1 ct scan the xray showed a shadow then follow up exray 1 month later showed the shadow was still there i had had anti biotics & steriods I have just had results from dr for ct scan which shows a lump in the shadow she has refered me to the lung specialist what happen next?
There was a lump identified on x-ray and CT , could be due to suspicion a course of antibiotic has given but lesions remain as they are - that means they are mass / cystic lesion - not pneumatic patch.
The lung specialist will ask for a guided biopsy / FNAC - fine needle aspiration cytology ( depending upon the location of the lesion) after the result identifying the cells ( treatment or operative will be decided.
CT Scan itself will give the approximate diagnosis with nature of the lesion and its source and extensions. Presence of lymph nodal enlargement can also be seen. Definitive diagnosis will be FNAC / BIOPSY.
Hope it helps you. Wish you a good health. Anything to ask ? do not hesitate. Thank you.
