What Does Bilateral Hydrosalpinx In HSG Test Mean?
just done my HSG last 2010. HSG result was: Uterine cavity normal. Both tube are Patent With Dilated Fimbrial Ends. IMP: Bilateral Hydrosalphinx. Can anyone explain it to me? Please .. My dr didn t explain it to me well. She just told me I have blocked tube.
Hello and welcome to HCM, I am Dr Nilajkumar a consultant gynecologist and I will be helping you in your queries.
The report clearly says that the tubes are patent [ means open]. So there is no question of blocked tubes. However the dilated fimbrial ends suggest that there may be some pathology in the tube there and they are filled with fluid. In my experience, this is more often an error inherent to the procedure. We do not expect tubes to be open in hydrosalpinx.
When I perform laproscopy in such women, in most cases the tubes are normal. So please do not worry, the tubes are not blocked. However you may take a course of antibiotics after prescription form your doctor as infection can lead to hydrosalpinx and must be treated.
Hope this was helpful. Feel free to ask any further queries and I will be happy to help. Thanks for using HCM. Have a good day. Dr Nilajkumar Bagde Consultant Obstetrics and Gynecology
