What Does Co2 Level 33 And Glucose Reading 119 Signify?
I have just had a blood test for several things and got only 2 highs ,one was for co2 and that was 33 and my glucose reading was 119 and I had had only a coffee with sugar and a yogurt about 3 hours before my test. My question is ,are these dangerous levels? Lana
Hello! I read carefully your query and understand your concern. The normal range for CO2 in blood is 23-29 mEq/L .Normal value ranges may vary slightly among different laboratories. Sometimes an abnormal result means you are not in the average range. But it doesn’t always mean there is problem. Some healthy people will simply have carbon dioxide levels that are slightly higher or lower than average.
So a CO2 level of 33 is not considered high and if your other findings in blood test were normal than you have nothing to worry about.
As for your blood sugar level it is normal because since you eat something 3 h before testing blood sugar can be up to 140 mg/dl. You need to do another tests to evaluate better your blood sugar. It is called fasting blood glucose. For this test do not eat or drink anything other than water for at least 8 hours before the blood sample is taken. If the test result is 70-100 mg/dl your blood sugar is normal and you don't need to worry.
Hope my answer has helped. Take care. Dr.Rovena
