Prominent bronchovascular markings (BVM) are commonly seen due to viral infection, bronchitis etc. Normally bronchus appear black on chest x ray. So it can not be seen. But in case of viral infection and bronchitis (inflammation), wall of bronchus becomes edamatous and visible on chest x ray. Along with bronchus, blood vessels also engorged and visible on x ray. So togather they are known as prominent bronchovascular markings. In children, viral infection is more common. So consult pediatrician and start appropriate treatment.
