What Does "minimally Displaced Acute Fracture" Mean?
Hi i am 46yrs old 103 kg on 20/8/2012 the x-ray showed a minimally displaced acute fracture was seen in 4th proximal phalanx and no evidence of any bone erosion or destruction see in bones under review no lytic /scelerotic lesion is seen , the joint spaces are normal and no evidence of abnormal calcification seen . Toe was placed and strapping with cold copress was suggested now 9/10/2012 again i removed an x ray it still shows fracture is seen in 5th proximal phalynx .I am a dibetic too Please give me your suggestion in this case. Thank you
There appears to be a discrepancy in findings in the two reports mentioned by you. In the first one it is the 4th proximal phalynx and in the second one its the 5th. Any ways an undisplaced fracture is a mild form of fracture the bones are not disturbed from their alignment. This means that the fracture heals fast if proper care is taken. You may need to avoid putting weight on the affected foot and try to reduce your weight.
