n I have a 4 months old son on the 4th day of his birth he had fits and we took him to the doctor and they said us it was due to low sugar and he was in NICU for 5 days and all the tests were done and every thing was normal and they advised us to give Gardnial Syrup. His EEG report was normal and after 40 days again he had one more time the same fits and we took him to the doctor and he was NICU for 5 days. They advised us to make a MRI scan of the head and it was done and the report says
Hypo densities Noted in Bilateral Posterior Parietal Regions with Widened Cortical Sulci - Suggestive of Leucomalacic Changes.
The doctor advised to continue the same medicine and later after one month a CT scan of the brain was done and the report says the same. But the child activities are normal and he is near about 5.5 kg in weight. The doctor said us that need not worry about this just continue the same gardinal medicine.
Can I know whether in future it will affect the health of the child and the growth and this can be treated?
Hi Thanks for your question. leucomalacia is a white matter disease usually affects preterm babies causes seizures.Well,it can cause developmental delays and motor control problems.I dont think there is any treatment for leucomalacia,it is only as a response to seconadary pathologies due to leucomalacia. good luck
