What do this mean 1. Annular bulging of the disc with neural foraminal narrowing bilaterally from L2 to S1 with bilateral nerve effacement at L4-L5 and L5-S1. 2. Posterior paramedian herniation L4-L5 and L5-S1. 3. Diffuse central canal stenosis with changes most notable L4-L5 And L5-S1.
According to MRI report you have degenerative disc disease of lumbar spine. Degenerative changes occurs in spine due to aging and development of weakness in annulus fibrosis which allows herniation of disc.
1.From L2 to S1 level there is annular bulging of the disc with neural foraminal narrowing bilaterally(both side).
2.There is also posterior para median disc herniation at L4-L5 and L5-S1 level which is causing bilateral nerve effacement at these levels with diffuse central canal stenosis.
Treatment for degenerative lumbar disease includes physiotherapy or surgery. Effectiveness of both modalities are same. So,physiotherpay should be tried first. It causes strengthening of Para spinal muscles and it prevents further changes. Surgery should be the last option. There are also medicines like capsule pregabalin available for pain relief. Treatment can be planned after consultation with neurosurgeon. Get well soon.
