What Does Vacuum Phenomenon In Costivertebral Junction Mean?

Hi I am 54 yrs old and just told have degenerative disc changes are present at the c5/6 level with osterior vertebral osteophytes but these changes are minor. Facet joint OA changes are minimal, probably greatest at the c2/3 level. There is vacuum phenomenon at the 1st left costivertebral junction suggesting a degree of hyermobility. there are rudimentary bony cervical ribs at c7 bulaterally. can you explain more clearly

1.Vacume phenomenon - presence of air in the joint space, due to infective / inflammatory changes in the joint. In your case its seen in cost vertebral joint ( vertebrae and ribs)
2.The report also indicates degenerative changes with presence of osteophytes and inflammatory changes in the facet joint at C2, C3 vertebrae level.
3.The possibilities of this changes could be as said in report - hyper mobility.
4.Rudimentary cervical rib - is normal variants, which you don't have to worry about.
5.All these changes are age related / hyper mobility / weight bearing work.
simple exercises, reduction of work, physiotherapy are the treatment of choice.
