What Is Acetacylic Acid? Is This Useful For Treating Ulcer On Leg?

My mum has a nasty ulcer on her leg. It was treated at the Medical Centre with acetacylic acid at the weekend rather than giving her antibiotics. What is this stuff?? Very painful on the wound. I have googled it and discovered it is Aspirin. Do I have the name wrong// Guessed the spelling from what the Doctor said

Aspirin and acetyl salicylic acid are one and the same. Acetyl salicylic acid is the generic name of aspirin. Aspirin has got the property of preventing the aggregation of platelets in the blood there by it can dissolve clots in the blood vessels. Your mother might be suffering from leg ulcer probably due to insufficient blood supply to the leg because of clot obstruction in the blood vessel. Hence i feel that aspirin has been given to improve blood circulations in the leg. This is essential treatment. In your mother's case aspirin might not have been given as a pain relieving medicine but as a clot dissolving medicine. As clot dissolving medicine aspirin is given at a very low dose.
