Hi,
Thanks for the query.
There are many causes of heavy bleeding. The commonest are fibroids [non cancerous uterine tumors],
hormonal imbalances, lesions of
cervix like polyps and cancers [rare],
endometritis, trauma of any cause, abortions.
To evaluate all these a gynec examination and an
ultrasound is needed. You seem to have undergone both. Is the thick uterine lining seen on ultrasound?
In any case, IUD may also cause heavy bleed, especially the non hormonal IUD. Check to see which IUD you have inserted. Bleeding due to IUD tends to settle down after 2-3 months of use. Try tranexamic tablets to control acute episode of bleed while you get investigated.
Get a hormonal profile done and also a
pregnancy test to rule out accidental pregnancy and abortion. If USG has not been done, get it done. If none of the above are conclusive, you may need to get the IUD removed to see if it is causing it.
Hope this satisfies your query.
Thanks for using HCM.
