Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Dear patient
You have back pain for last ten years means chronic pain. Now your mri is saying l5s1 disc prolapse. But more details are required to ascertain the need for surgery 1. How much is the compression? Can be known by canal diameter at the disc level 2. The nerve compression 3. Facetal changes. If canal diameter is less than 10 mm and significant nerve compression surgery is required. Best approach for discectomy is endoscopic. It requires minimal and small sized incisions and with less damage to soft tissues.
