What Is The Cause Of Cold Feet And Numbness After Ankle Sprain?
I went to the er on Wed. around 4am , they took xrays andbtold me my ankle was sprained. they gave me some pain medication and a plastic ankle brace. they told me to use the RICE method , and I have been. But the next day I woke up and the swelling had spread. so I continued the RICE method. They told me that if the swelling didn't go down in 3-5 days I need to see an orthopedic. But at the moment, my foot is cold and I have a numb burning sensation . What is the cause if this? Should I go ahead and schedule an appointment with the orthopedic?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi In such case you should better have an orthopedic consultation. From you history there is a possibility of tibial nerve damage. It can be secondary to a fracture or strain or sprain. And some fractures only an orthopedician can rule out properly.Keep your ankle immobilized in an elastic bandage till you see a doctor.Hope this may help you. thanks.
