What Is The Recurrent Cough?

Dear Dr.,

I am 44 years old, 5'2", 45kg. I was having cough on and off for almost 1 month. It stopped a week ago. Then, 3 days ago i had fever, diarrhea and vomitting. Now i am recoverred, but the cough came back and it is getting worst. What could be the cause and what should i do?

I can understand your concern.
You are having chronic cough (cough for more than 2 weeks).
So we should should definitely rule out lung infection and bronchitis in your case.
So consult pulmonologist and get done clinical examination of respiratory system, chest x ray and PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).
Chest x ray is normal then no need to worry for lung infection.
PFT is must for the diagnosis of bronchitis.
You may need antibiotic, inhaled bronchodilators (formoterol or salmeterol).
Don't worry, you will be alright with all these.
