Hi. Thanks for posting your concern at HCM

Acne and its sequelae, Post-inflammatory Hyperpigmenattion and Acne scars are common among young people.

I would have liked to gather some more information from you in order to be able to help you better:

Are your periods regular? Do you have any problem with facial hair?
If yes, then you might be having an underlying hormonal cause for acne which are usually resistant to conventional anti- acne treatments OR they relapse quickly unless the underlying cause is corrected.

If i was your treating doctor i would have wanted a few lab tests in you like:
S. Testosterone
S. DHEAS
S. LH
S. FSH
S Prolactin levels.

In such a case i usually put my patients on oral antibiotics like either Doxycycline or Azithromycin, pending lab results.

Topicali prescribe Clindamycin gel during the day and Benzoyl Peroxide or Topical retinoid gel during the night.

Apart from the specific antiacne treatment general measures form an essential adjuvant.

--Use a mild cleanser like cetaphil twice daily
--Avoid all the regular use creams, moisturizers, sunscreens that you may be using for the time being till you are on anti-acne treatment.
--Avoid taking facials.
--Avoid picking your acne.
--Use an Anti-dandruff shampoo since acne is worsened by dandruff.

I would advice that you visit a nearby dermatologist and have a detailed discussion keeping all these points in mind.

take care
regards

Hello,
Welcome to healthcare magic.
If you have severe acne, you may benefit from oral isotretinoin . This has to be taken only under the supervision of a dermatologist under strict monitoring. You can also take oral doxycycline or azithromycin. But you should remember that acne is a chronic problem which is hormone related and could persist till you are 26-28 years and sometimes even beyond that. You need to maintain with topicals like benzoyl peroxide and adaferin.
For scars you can benefit from chemical peels, microdermabrasion and dermarollers.
Have a good diet and drink plenty of water.
Do not keep changing doctors and treatments. Follow up with a good doctor to get optimum results.
Hope this helps you.
Take care.
