What Is The Solution For Oligohydramniosis During Pregnancy?
Hello, Dr. My wife is 27 weeks pregnant. In a recent 2d ultrasound and color doppler her AFI index was ranging from 9.5 to 8.40 cm. The development of baby's vital organs is adequate. We are told by the doctor that this is mild oligohydroaminosis. She was infused with 6 bottles in last week due to this, but this did not rise the level of amniotic fluid. We are very worried. Doctor has asked for rest and said baby is sick inside but having good oxygenation level. He also suggested that weekly scans will be needed to monitor the AFI level and on basis of that they will plan further interventions. Dr. also suggested praying for the same, due which we are in much panic. Please suggest what we should do at this point, so as we can have healthy baby without any contraindications or risks.
Hi, I had gone through your query and understand your concerns.
Amniotic fluid volume is balanced between how much the baby is making from urination versus how quickly it is removed either by swallowing or absorption across the amniotic membranes. Swallowing accounts for most of the removal. Thus, any changes in those two variables will result in either an increase or decrease in the fluid volume. The amniotic fluid normally varies over the course of the pregnancy. The range for a normal amniotic fluid index is roughly 8 to 18 cm.
At 27 weeks pregnancy AFI level should be 14. It is a little bit concern for you because it is 9.5 but no need to worry. In many cases fluid will increase by taking more liquids like water, coconut water.
Also you can take L-Arginine (3g) | Proanthocyanidin (75mg) sachets twice daily with water. IV fluids also suggestable to increase your fluid levels.....
