What Kind Of Tests Should Be Done To Find Out The Causes Of Rectal Bleeding?
what test can be done to find out where rectal bleeding is coming from. i had an upper test for the stomach but it did not show any bleeding there, so it probably is in the small intestine. my stools were black for about 31/2 half weeks but now it has returned to a normal color except i have a lot of diarrhea at times. i have been diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome years ago. at my age - 77 - my problems have been increased & i hate to have these things happening. also i have episodes of hyper acidic stomach recently, which made me think it was an ulcer, but apparently not. Hi, thank you for asking Healthcare Magic. I have gone through your query and understood your concerns. The black stool you had was altered blood and can result from any bleeding along the gastrointestinal tract from the esophagus through the small intestines. With this presentation, I think inflammatory bowel disease could be the cause. Apart from blood tests, other tests may include barium X-rays, CT scan, colonoscopy or endoscopy.
I hope that answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. We will be delighted to answer more questions from you. I wish you good health
