What To Do If I Have Red, Swollen, Itchy Vagina After Having Protected Sex?

Hi,

I was diagnosed with genital herpes 4years ago but never had a breakout. I had protected sex a month a go and my vagina started to itch, it smelled weird and I had discharge. I went to the doctor and was diagnosed with BV and yeast infection. I got prescribe with some vaginal cream that I insert with a long tube. It's fine now. On Friday I had protected sex and my vagina start having a weird discomfort feeling then I had sex again on Saturday night and my vagina started to itch on Sunday. Then it started to itch really bad on Sunday night. It's still really really itchy. I looked at it and its red and swollen. It has 3-4 little white bumps. What's should I do?

Hi,

I can understand your concern for the red, swollen, itchy vagina after having protected sex.

It can be sign of any infection near the perineal area on inside urinary tract or vagina and cervix. It can be due to fungal infection of the area known as candidiaisis or due to bacterial infection such as chlamydia also. YOu need to go for thoroguh check up. Even many a times it is seen that due to injury by the intercourse and then secondary infection.

Till that time avoid sexual intercourse or any manipulation to prevent further secondary infection. I suggest you to meet a gynecologist and check out for the exact nature of problem and rule out any infection in the local area.

Take care.
