1. First get a general medical check-up and rule out anemia (low hemoglobin), diabetes (blood sugar levels), have your pressure checked, rule out postural hypotension.
2. Is your hearing muffled only in one ear? or both? How old are you? Are you peri-menopausal? Is there any tinnitus or dizziness? Is the hearing muffled or distorted? Do you hear double?
3. I an give you a list of causes, in order of severity, (besides the one's mentioned above) to check for:
a. Ear wax
b. Eustachian Tube dysfunction (crackling & static) Get an Impedance Audiometry.
c. Middle ear effusion (fluid)
d. Myoclonus of palatal or middle ear muscles
e. Early Meniere's Disease (fluctuating hearing loss)
f. Ototoxicity. Get a PTA (Pure Tone Audiogram).
g. Vertibro-basilar insuffuciency. Get a Neck doppler study done.
h. Cardiac causes. Get a 2D Echo.
i. Lung disorders. Get an Chest X-ray done.
