Why Am I Having Excessive Thirst And What Does The Glucose Monitor Test Suggest?
I'm a 16 year old male who is 5'10 and weighs about 133 pounds. I have recently been excessively thirsty, and no amount of water seems to quench my thirst. I have no idea what is wrong, and I took an Accu-Check glucose monitor test, with a 103mg reading. What could it be?
Sensation of excessive thirst can be attributed to: 1. Dehydration status of the body 2. Electrolyte imbalance 3. Fluctuation of blood sugar level 4. Other hormonal & metabolic causes.
Investigations like complete blood count, estimation of serum electrolytes, Kidney function test will be helpful to rule out any pathological cause for the symptoms.
Glucose monitor measures the Random Blood Glucose level of an individual. A value of 103 mg/dl is well within normal range. So, any fluctuation of blood glucose level as a cause for your symptoms can be ruled out.
Wishing you a Good Health. Take care.
