Why Do I Have Sharp Pain In My Left Chest Area?

I'm male 76yrs old,no heart history, but I get sharp pain, left chest area 2 inches below nipple. It is intermittent and eased by rubbing area. Occurs while sitting or standing and is more annoying that crippling. Has been off and on for several months. Only regional history was a benign tumor removed from r. Breast about 18 months ago.

Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible based on the history that you have provided that the pain is neurological.

Neuralgia or nerve related pain can occur due to abnormal structure or function of the nerves. It can vary- can be sharp, sticking, tingling, burning, numb.

There are different potential causes such as: trauma- this may be the cause since you had surgery recently
(2)vitamin b 12 or folate deficiency
(3)diabetes
(4)autoimmune disease
(5)exposure to toxins
(6)thyroid disease
(7)kidney or liver disease
(8)idiopathic- cause not found

If it continues, you can consider speaking to your doctor.

I hope this helps
